Padua represents
one of the cities culturally and economically more dynamics
of North Italy. It's a city with elegant and discreet fascination
with an extraordinary historical and artistic patrimony. The historical center has maintained its medieval system with the characteristic interlacement of porticate alleys that open themselves in wide public squares. In the public squares is concentrated the life of the city: Palazzo della Ragione, Palazzo Moroni, center of the Town Hall, Caffè Pedrocchi, historical coffee bar between the most famous of Italy, the ancient Università del Bo, they are in the vicinities of the three more famous public squares of the city: Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza della Frutta and Piazza dei Signori. Not to leave for the art lovers, the cycle of frescoes, work of Giusto de Menabuoi inside the Battistero del Duomo. |

Near the historical center we find one of the absolute magnificent work of the western figurative art: the cycle of frescoes realized by Giotto at the beginning of 1300. Today, after a long restoration, the doors of the Cappella degli Scrovegni have been reopened and evening visits are possible to admire under "an other light" the wonders of the Giotto paintings. Padua is not only art and culture, but also religiousity. The Basilica del Santo, caretaker of S. Antonio's body, has become a world-wide center of spirituality, and today counts million of pilgrims and visitors. Little far away there is the second larger public square of Europe with its magnificent garden. On this public square there is also the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Giustina. In the vicinities of Padua there are the Colli Euganei which make a landscape to the numerous naturalistic, historical, artistic and "eno-gastronomiche" visits in the immediate periphery of the city. The Colli Euganei make frame to the Terme Euganee of Abano and Montegrotto, the more famous thermal river basin of Europe. |
